When we lived in Tampa, the best coffee house in town had, for a while, these wonderful muffins, sugar free, sweetened with fruit juice and loaded with nuts, and sometimes with fruit. NO frosting/topping. They were GREAT! Thanks for this thread, it reminded me of those muffins; I'd love to recreate some of them.

Are you looking for low sugar overall or just low refined sugar? I made muffins once that used lots of dried fruit for the sweet, but no added sugar. I can find the recipe again if you're interested.

I need low sugar overall. DH is not supposed to be eating any kind of sugars, refined or not, including fruit juice, dried fruit, and fruit pulps like applesauce.
BTW, I tried the chocolate walnut muffin last night, it was like eating a crumbly choc-chip cookie. Mmmn.Use it up, Wear it out,
