How do you find craft shows in your area.....
and the people that run them?
I'm wondering because I would like to have a table at
some shows. But by the time they are advertised in the
newspaper it is too late to get a table.
I know where a few are in my area. But not when they are
held or who runs them. So how do you find out?
TIA~~ Dee ~~

I have found all our craft sales advertised in the local newspaper. Also I often here them advertised on the local television station.
The craft sale we are going to on November 23, I seen on a placemat at a local restaurant.
Watch for advertisements also in local stores. Schools (here anyways) have great craft sales, call around and see if any of yours have.
I also was asked to attend a craft sale when I was doing another craft sale. A lady came around handing out forms.
I agree with Lori, have lots on hand. When you see an advertisement or hear of one, call immediately. If you can't get in this year, ask to have your name put down for next year. Usually you can do that. Even if you can't attend, you at least are asked.
Good luck!!

Diana, I am from your area, and have done lots of craft shows- just not recently. When I was starting out, I looked in the classified section of the paper- I believe the craft shows have a section towards the front of the paper. The shows will advertise several months in advance of the show looking for dealers. The really good shows are booked a year in advance. For instance, I did the craft show in Greene, NY a lot, and I contacted the village of Greene to get an application. I would call NOW for next summer. Once you get into the shows, other craft show promoters will come around and give you applications to their shows. I found that the school shows right around this time of year were very beneficial to do, but I doubt you could get a table at this short notice. It's possible though, and might be worth a call to the school to see if they would put you in contact with the person running the show, if you know of any that you would like to set up at. In general my stuff did not do well at church bazaars, but this would all go according to what you would be selling. I did very well at the bigger shows. Some of them even asked me to submit slides of my work to get into the show. Let me know if you have any questions- I'd be glad to help!!!
