    Default Easy Santa Ornament

    Santa Ornament

    You will need:

1 light bulb (I recycle the ones that have burnt out, any size or shape will work)

    small amount polyester fiberfill

1 3"x3" or 4"x4" piece of red felt (depends on what size light bulb you use)

Acrylic paint in the following colors:
    Flesh tone
    Red
    Black
    Blue
    White

Paint brushes, 1/4", and one very fine for details

16" piece of ribbon or gold cording (for the hanger)

LOW temp glue or craft glue (low temp because you are gluing onto thin glass)

    1 white puff ball

    Directions:

Hold the light bulb upside down (the bulb portion will be hanging down) and paint a circular area with the 1/4" brush in flesh tone, next dab your brush in the red and blot off on a paper towel and put a blush to his cheeks. LET DRY
When dry, (use the fine paint brush) paint his mouth with red, outline eyes with black, and fill in with white and blue for the iris, and right in the center of the eye put a tiny dot of white. LET DRY

Take the square piece of felt and shape it into a cone, glue on the seam. Take the ribbon or cording join the ends and glue together. Take the puff ball and glue on the tip of the hat.
    Set aside.

Next start gluing the fiberfill all around the bulb, for his beard, up the back of the bulb, for his hair, and very carefully on the face for his moustache and eyebrows. Also glue some all around the base of the hat . LET DRY

Next take the hat with the seam at the back place the glued ends of the hanger against the seam, fold the hat seams together with the hanger sandwiched in between and glue. Then glue the hat opening on the top of the light bulb.

Note: When I say LET DRY, acrylic paint and low temp glue do not take very long at all to dry. You want the blush on his cheeks to be blended, but his eyes and mouth to stand out. The white in his eyes gives them a "twinkle".
Also make these out of all different types and sizes of light bulbs. The long skinny ones you use in a chandlier are really cool, but any will work.

    Happy Crafting!
