Default What types of craft items are selling?

For those who attend or sell at craft fairs or markets, what types of things do people buy? I'm not looking for business ideas or big profit makers, but I went to the church tea and sale with my mother this afternoon and was asked by one of the ladies what sorts of things young people would buy nowadays. They have a bake table which always sells well and a craft table which isn't doing well at all anymore. They are looking for new ideas for items which might be more popular.

I couldn't think of much, I suggested maybe soaps or those homemade bath salts (made them for my MIL last year and she loved them). But I honestly have no idea what things other people like to buy. Right now it's a lot of sewn and knitted items.

So what homemade items do people like to buy?

My sister and I do craft shows and we sell on ebay. As a matter of fact, we have a craft show next weekend. With the economy right now, everyone is having a hard time. People are really stopping to think about what they purchase. We sell scrapbooks, cards, and other keepsake type items which are all handmade. We've done two craft shows within the past month. our sales haven't been great, but they haven't been bad either. People are just looking for deals right now on anything and everything!

Jewelry.............the homemade jewelry is a biggie here.

When you have a 'ga-zillion' piercings you have to have goodies to go in all the holes!! But nothing fancy.........

And I would think that would be a 'tough call' for making it as everyone's taste is soooooooooo different.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Absolutely agree with ff. And, if you visit etsy.com, you will see that jewelry, either handmade or vintage, seems to be a BIG seller right now. The other thing that's selling well is handmade hair bands that are decorated with handmade flowers, buttons, and trinkets. Another is ~natural~ soaps, creams, etc. If you have a minute, go there and click on ~BUY~, and then scroll to click on RECENT SALES. It'll give you an idea as to what's hot in the craftworld right now.
