    Default Fragrance question...

I posted this originally in the wrong area I think...DIY forum so I'm posting here too.

I’ve always wanted to make candles, soaps and lotions so I’ve decided that I’m going to ask for supplies this Christmas.
I’m starting from scratch and my biggest mission at the moment is securing a decent stockpile of fragrances because they’re expensive.

Which type of fragrances should I have on my list…essential oils or soap fragrances or BOTH?

What size bottles are the best to have in your stock? I ask because I have no clue what the average ‘recipe’ calls for (whether it be soap or candle).

Are there standard scents that everyone always has a surplus of?

Talk to me ladies LOL! TIA!

Oh and if you have a preference of wax I'm interested in info on that too.

I have no idea on most of your questions. . . .

My favorite scent is Lily of the Valley, and it's nearly impossible to find anything scented with it, anymore.

I like florals . .. yet it seems all the scents these days are mostly fruits/veggies or woodsy scents.

First thing....the fragrance oils for soap and candles are different. What is safe for candles is not safe for skin. So be careful.

I used to make soap and beauty products and I got my supplies from a variety of places. There is one place that should get you all you need. It is Wholesales Supplies Plus. It has information, recipes....just about everything. Good luck.....but beware, it's addicting!

Thanks for pointing out the dif between the fragrances and the store (I'm all over that site when I get home)!
Soo I will ask for soap fragrances along with essential oil fragrances...I'm assuming soap fragrances could be used in lotions too with no problem.

Yes fragrances that are safe for soap are safe for other body products. The site that I mentioned earlier has lots of product bases.....you just add color and fragrance to the base for a finished product. The lotion ones are really good. The glycerin soap bases are soooo much better than what you might find in a craft store and oddly enough they're cheaper too (even with shipping)......Have fun!!!
