    Default 2012 January Crafts Challenge

After a month of charity and giving, it's time to be a little selfish.

This month's challenge is to make something for yourself. It can be for you or for your home, if it is really something you've been wanting for your home, but not just because it is practical and you "need" it. It should be something you WANT, first and foremost, and if you need it as well, all the better. Nice, but not necessary.

Knitting, beading, woodwork...it all counts. Post your ideas and your projects, in progress and completed, here!

I will have to think about this as well. I am knee-deep in completing the church banners for my church that I should have done a year ago. (bad, bad me...I am so embarrased)

I will have them done THIS month...by golly! Then I will start to work on something for me. Possibly a candlewicking item for my home.

I need to keep the pressure on.

Hah! I rang in the New Year by knitting at the local Perkins until approximately 1:30 am. I made myself the Marian cowl: Ravelry: Marian pattern by Jane Richmond

I used a skein of Rowan Big Wool that I had left over from making my Chorley wrap. It is super soft and snuggly. It lays beautifully.

I also started on The Luxe Cowl: Ravelry: Luxe Cowl pattern by Margaux Hufnagel

I'm using my two skeins of Rowan Drift.

Both projects are for me and I am loving them. I'm being selfish with my knitting!

And good news for FF, I ordered a new camera, a Bloggie Touch, that is made to be super easy to upload pictures. One of my resolutions is to keep my Ravelry updated, so the camera will help with that. .

Ok, here's something I need and also want, but always put off and never do. I will make a bunch of new coasters. I have lots of cotton yarn to use up and this is something tiny I can take to work to play with on breaks or late at night if the library is empty.

I have been threatening to make myself some jewelry for months now, so I think I am going to try to FINALLY design a new pair of earrings or maybe a necklace and/or bracelet for ME!

I have a quilt I started for myself that I need to finish. I have the blocks done, I need to assemble it. I will put that on top of my list of things I want to work on.

Soooo agree with this making things for everyone else and never getting anything done for yourself. I found a free pattern at Joann's for a wrap and I really want to make it before vacation; 7 days away. I'm having a little bit of a problem understanding the instructions. I think I'm going to practice on a scrap piece of fabric.

Six days into the new month!! How are we all doing on our projects?

I have to admit that I haven't gotten much done on mine yet. I had a house full of puppies until Wed morning, so the last two days have been more about getting things put back into order than about doing anything remotely artistic!

Hoping to catch up by this weekend, though!

    Ravelry: nicdowell's Nichole's Luxe Cowl

I've finished these! I also made myself a little cowl out of a skein of Misti Alpaca. I need to post photos.

I've been working on a lapghan for a Christmas gift. Three strips of nine are done.

Not doing much else crafty. I accidentally sewed most of a shirt just now, if that counts. I have to finish the pocket, buttonholes, and buttons but not today. That stuff won't take very long.

Still need to get back to the counted cross stitch. I'm sort of dreading it because it's on black fabric and hard to see. I wonder if back-lighting it would help.
