Default All Hobbies Virtual Retreat - Jan 11 to 15

Wednesday Jan 11 to Sunday Jan 15 - hopefully these dates will allow for those who have a busy or work-filled weekend.

In case anyone is interested in joining in on a virtual hobby retreat to get some things started, make progress on UFOs, or even get some things finished, I thought I'd put this up already so you can mark your calendars and perhaps start your planning

I, for one, always need a little heads-up so I can think about what I have going on and devise a plan to work in some hours to devote to my hobbies.

Thanks! I know I could always use a few extra days to get things ready here. I think I am going to bust out the sewing machine for the retreat.

~Yay! I'm in! I just ordered 20 yards of fabric to make event backpacks. I don't think it will be here by next weekend but knowing it is coming will motivate me to clear out all these UFO's to have room for my next big project.~

Half the fun is thinking up what I will work on! I am thinking thinking thinking... I have Wednesday off work and we have an overnight Christmas party on Friday/Saturday so Wednesday, Thursday night, and Sunday will probably be my best days to participate. Can't wait to see what everyone chooses for projects.

Well, you picked my five work days, but I should still have plenty of free time Wed-Fri. I hit the half way point on lapghan project 1 today, so I should be able to get it finished during that time frame. Depending on how much I can do Mon-Tues, my days off, I might even get to move on to the next! Maybe I can also get some coasters made for the Jan "for me" craft challenge over that weekend.

I no longer have Wednesday off but I won't let that stop me from spending a few hours Weds evening. I will probably work on some crochet that is staring at me.

I also have to gather up materials for a 4-H Project Day to see if I need to supplement my supplies with an order - it happens in March so I better find out if I need anything. I'm leading a beaded flower project session or three We're making tri-bead irises.

I'm revving up for tomorrow! I'm trying to get all of the housework out of the way while I'm off (yesterday and today) and then my free time around work can all be for crocheting and reading. I'm down to the last three color repeats and weaving ends to finish the first lapghan, so I will definitely be able to get a good start on the second.

    Ready to go!

I got an order from a lady I work with to make a baby blanket for another co-worker.
Since I haven't bought a gift yet myself, we agreed that she would pay for the yarn and I will crochet the blanket.
Then we'll put both our names on the gift.
I have to work half a day today, but then I'm off to buy the yarn and get started.
I hope to get it completed before Monday.
    I'll post a picture when it's finished.

cancel what I said... the sewing hit a snag - literally! I was 3/4 with the first napkin when the machine ATE it. I don't have the desire to take the entire machine apart right now.

So... it looks like it's a knitting retreat for me

This is great timing! I have a hooked rug, two toddler coveralls, and a four corners apron to finish. It'll be fun to do my hobbies alongside everyone else. Thanks for motivating me!

Great idea - always have lots and lots to play with!! And I cannot wait to see pictures!!

Nuisance - what event are you making backcpacks for? What color fabric? Ever thought of just covering the backpacks out of ripstock nylon? I have red ones I you want me to send you 20 - let me know.
