What's the Difference"

I'm getting ready to start a plastic canvas bookmark for dd's birthday.

My choices for doing the project are #3 Pearl Cotton or Embroidery floss.

What exactly is #3 Pearl Cotton and how does it compare to regular yarn and the floss? I can either use one strand of the pearl cotton or 12 strands of the floss.

In the 20 yrs. I've been doing pc I've never run in to pearl cotton and could use some advice.

Pearl cotton is thicker than regular embroidery floss. It's esasier and neater to use because you only have the one strand instead of the 12 if you use the embroidery floss. You might try Michael's or other craft store to locate it.

I'm a plastic canvas nut, I have about 400 books/magazines of patterns and run a group on yahoo where we do trades, can't get enough...lol.
