    Default Have you ever made....

Angels out of magazines. I remember when I was in elementry school we made them one year at Christmas. We used the Readers Digests magazines since they were short and kind of thick.

Did anyone else ever make one of these before?

I have a ton of readers digests laying around and am thinking about making one for our end tables.

No, I have never seen an angel made from a magazine before.

Do you remember how to make them??

I dont think it worked cause I cant see anything, it says drawing failed.

We used to make Christmas trees and spray paint them green or gold. We used Readers Digest as well.

I would like to see your angel as I LOVE angels!

I haven't finished it. The only differnece between the tree and the angel is you spray paint them silver or gold. I'm trying to remember what we did for a head...lol.

I can't get the pictures to work. I wonder if there is a site that shows them...hmmm

I'll work on the picture some more and then hopefully after a trip to walmart for some paint I'll have a finished project to share.

Robin, I'm glad you posted. I was beginning to think I had imagined the whole thing. I remember folding the pages and painting them gold though.

Wow-- I love this idea. I could have a whole houseful of angels if I used all the magazines stashed around here.

Can't wait to see the finished pic!

I used to make these using TV guides. only we made them be Christmas trees, we never added wings or heads. W used foam to make stars and glued them to the top. Mom would take them outside after they were all folded to spray pint them green. once they were dry, usually the next day (cold weather) she'd let my brother and I paint them using tempera paints or whatever paints we had available. we used pom pons as decorations, tinsel, whatever we could find. it was lot of fun.

I remember those.    Do you not use a styrofoam ball for the head.    I remember my older kids making those at school and coming home with them, proud as punch.    They were so neat.

They are easy. All you do is fold the top corner of the page towards the spine of the magazine so it looks something like this:

As for the wings, you have a few options. Since all you really need to see is the front of the angel I trimmed the front and back covers for my wings. I don't think the one I made in elementry school had wings but I wanted this one too.

This picture of the wing my not be to good but hopefully you can tell what I did:
