    Default Draft dodgers

I think I would like to make a few of these since it is soooo bitter cold here.

Any ideas on what to stuff them with? I know I have fleece fabric I can use. I have quilt batting, but something to weigh them down with I guess. Any ideas?

    Thanks ladies!

    dried beans? rice? kitty litter?

I honestly don't know what would be best. I start to think about moisture with the kitty litter and bugs with the food stuff. Maybe someone has a better suggestion.

You can buy plastic pellets that are waterproof. They are made by the same company that makes fiberfill. They are great. I didnt see them the last time I looked for them at Joann's but maybe you could look for them online. I think they are called poly pellets.

I've seen instructions for making them using rice, sand, or kitty litter.

Here is a link to the pellets Robin mentioned:

With kittly litter i would worry about the cats misusing them (I know paranoid)
I don't think bugs would bother dried beans or rice, would they?
You could use fish tank gravel I imagine, its about the saem weight wise as beans.

I have a moth problem right now and the moths in my house will eat through just about ANYTHING--this is why I can't use the rice.

What I"ve done is a rolled up bath towel (bath sheet if big door) and you can use it to mop up mud puddles melting off snow boots too.

Unroll, pop in wash, roll back up, kick against door.

Not the most attractive but a quick and I hesitate to use the term, quick and dirty solution to quote the programmer's term

I have made them with rice. It takes a TON and they are heavy and akward. I did see them at the craft show this year filled with cedar chips. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the great ideas! The bath towels are a good temporary solution until I get them made.

Fish gravel and cedar chips are also worth considering.

I knew you ladies would come through!
