shibori scarves
Has anyone seen this? I caught it on Martha Stewart the other day and these are just beautiful and I think would make awesome gifts. They are relatively easy to make too.
Here's the link to Martha's site about it and the link to the artist's site that was on her show.

Is this something you wear? I love scarves but didn't see the show and I can't seem to find it elsewhere than on that tree. Sorry

That is sort of like tie dye without the dye? I didn't see the show either but sounds interesting and would make great gifts.

Some of the artists dye the fabric themselves, but this particular one had the material already dyed and just worked the material with steam and an iron.
This show the scarves were to wear and they were very pretty. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. You take pebbles or marbles or beads whatever round shape you want and rubberband one at a time into the scarf (at the ends of the scarf). Then you can twist the scarf until it's tight enough to curl up and then curl it into a ball and rubberband that if you want and then place it into a pressure cooker.
Once it has pressure cooked a bit, you remove it and allow it to dry and unravel it. You then can retwist it and steam iron it for a few seconds.
When you are done ironing and unraveling the shapes from the pebbles and from the twisting makes a really pretty and stylish scarf to wear.
Also the picture on Martha's site is just a decorative display. These are worn.
The bubbles are just a fancy way of steaming in a shape into the ends of the scarf. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online.
