Money tree
http://kids.creativity-portal.com/d/...nt/index.shtml
They say money doesn't grow on trees ... but who says it can't 'grow' in a flower pot!
The novelty Money Plant makes a unique centerpiece and a perfect gift for those times when cash is the best gift of all: graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, and other special occasions. You decide how much your gift should be worth and then fold the dollar denominations into "leaves" that appear to grow out of the plant. The plant pictured is made up of 24 different folded bills — which could translate into as little as $24 (U.S.) or as much as you wish to 'gift' away!
The Money Plant is a versatile project. Once you understand the basic project design, you can customize it to your own specifications depending on the purpose or theme of the gift. This could mean using a larger, fancier, or decorated planter; adding additional items into the pot; or using other folded items for leaves instead of dollar bills (use your imagination!).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4" Clay flower pot
12" Wooden dowel rod (1" diameter)
OR thick paper rolled into a tube and taped
Green Paint (optional for dowel rod)
6-10 Rubber bands
Aqua foam or florist styrofoam
Dollar bills of any denomination (a minimum of 18 is recommended for plant fullness)
A handful or two of Pennies
Novelty Money Plant seed packet
Once you have all of the needed materials you can begin creating the Money Plant. Step-by-step instructions are divided into five parts. Begin by clicking on Part 1: Dowel Rod Preparation.
