Do you remember your grandmothers or mother doing crafts of any kind?
My mom used to crochet doilies and also tatted. My grandmother embroidered everything she could get her hands on. My other grandmother always had knitting needles in her hands, knitting socks and mitts.

My mother is still a mad crafter.
I don't know about her mother; I think she quilted.
My father's mother crocheted like crazy.

My paternal grandma was quite crafty. She crocheted, sewed, knitted, and made all sorts of other stuff. She also used to make things from yarn and plastic stuff that she sewed it into. I don't really know how to explain it, but she would make stuff like tissue box covers.
My paternal grandpa would also make stained glass lamps and window hangings, etc.
My maternal grandma wouldn't lower herself to a crafty level. It would have been SO beneath her.

My mom was/is not much of a crafter. Her mother, however, was a fabulous seamtress. She taught my sisiter to sew, and my sister taught me when I was about 10...and I've been sewing ever since (about 30 years) My grandmother also crocheted with a passion. My other grandmother...well, she drank. My mom's true talent is cooking and taking care of people.

I don't remember my Grandma doing crafty things. She mainly took care of all of us & the house. She did can some things & was a wonderful cook & baker.
My Mom knitted & crocheted in her later years.
Alas I don't know what happened to me --- no knitting...no crocheting---

My maternal grandmother (Granny) sewed and crocheted...she may have even knitted. She got cancer when I was 10 so she didnt do much after she got so sick.
My paternal grandmother (MeMe) cooked an aweful lot, she sewed, but she also worked out of the home(still does at age 75) so she didnt have a lot of time to do these things.
My mother sewed, crocheted EVERYTHING possible, she made dolls,(she made me my first "cabbage patch" doll) stuffed animals and also cooked a lot.
My Dh's maternal grandmother (Mamaw) does everything...all kinds of crafts, as well as his Aunt Judy. Dh's mother(My MIL) made cakes, sewed, made Christmas ornaments, etc, and her dad (PawPaw) builds things from wood...he usually makes us something each year when he's able...he's in his 80's now...this year he made us Santa's sleigh with a reindeer pulling it along.

My maternal grandmother, whom I never knew (died when I was four), crocheted and sewed. My paternal grandmother did NONE of these things. She talked on the phone a lot and chain-smoked! LOL My own mother didn't do any sewing or crafts. She attempted it when I was little. She told my Dad, "I really don't enjoy this." To which he replied, "Then why are you doing it?" But Mom encouraged me in my interest in sewing and crafts. I could build or craft anything anywhere in the house like my giant village made with toothpicks, which was on the dining table for a long time.

My mum was a great knitter. When my kids were born she knitted them a lot of jackets and bootees. She also was a good dressmaker and taught sewing at our school.

My granny thomson, mum's mum sewed everthing she wore pretty much, and a lot for the family too. Mum sewed a lot.
My step gran knitted a lot, quilted a fair bit, made rag rugs, and sewed most of what she wore plus a fair bit of Grandad's wardrobe too. She canned a lot, froze a lot, and did a lot of gardening.

My grandma sewed and knit (and we generally ran screaming from what she would sew for us! LOL!)
My mom sewed a lot of our clothes when we were kids, and did a lot of knitting as well. Now she does more quilting, and I'm the family knitter.
On DH's side his mom sewed, and his maternal grandma crocheted a lot of stuff (of which we have a few items).
