Question What's the very first craft you learnt?

I'd have to say sewing. It was a required course in home economics. Once I was married, the first craft I learnt was knitting.

I learned my first craft before I was 5. I was taught to embroider. My maternal grandmother was a "children should be seen and not heard" kind of woman so when we visited her, we emboidered, crocheted or did word puzzles or jigsaws. It wasn't a lot of fun, but I love that I learned to do needlecrafts at an early age. I still use them.

My Grandma taught me to crochet when I was about eight. I would start out by practicing my chain. I would make one twenty feet long. Then when I was ready I would learn other stitches.

My grandma taught me to embroider when I was maybe 8? And she taught me to crochet, but I haven't retained that talent at all. I started sewing at 10, and still sew a lot. I got a new machine last year, and I enjoy it so much more now with a good machine! I can't believe the difference!

Either crocheting or cross stitch. I'm not really sure which came first as I was pretty young when I learned both.

I taught myself to emboider at about 10. But I was doing Baked salt dough ornaments and painting them by about 8. Anyone who had someone to teach them was blessed. My family as in mother and grandmother both worked and we always had a garden, animals, etc. so they always were so busy just getting things done they did have the time to sit and actually teach me anything. So anything I have learned to do I have taught myself.
