These are so popular I'm sure many of you have made them. I am going to take advantage of some summer fleece sales and stock up. I have never made one, but I do grasp the concept and think it shouldn't be too hard. I was told to buy 2 yards for each side of the blanket, or, 4 yards per blanket. It think this was considered an adult size. What would I need for a child size or infant? I was planning on making a blanket for each of my children and for my new little one coming in January.
Also, all of you who have made these, any tips or hints that I need to know? It seems pretty easy, but there may be some secret to it
Thanks!
Whitney

They're very easy to make- I've done some for baby gifts. There's no real secret tips that I can think of, just be sure you keep your fringe pieces lined up so you don't skip one piece and have to untie and redo one side like I did.

Also-- I tie every other knot on one side of the blanket, then flip it over and tie the remaining knots-- makes it reversible, rather than having all the knots go one way.

I do the same thing. I used 1 and 1/4 yard for baby blanket and 1 and 1/2 yard for toddler size and 2 yards for adult.

Those are so cool! I am going to make them for our beds. I was going to purchase new blankets for us this year but this will be much nicer. Gets really cold here at night!

One more question, as I know NOTHING about fabric. What would be considered a good price on fleece per yard? I've been looking on the internet and I will look at fabric stores this weekend.

I made one for each of my boys. Using a roller cutter (Looks like a pizza cutter only smaller, really sharp and for fabric) worked better and was a lot faster. Especially if you are going to make more then one. Just sharing.

Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not break.
I use a rotary cutter and my quilt mat. Makes them a lot easier and faster to cut. Last year, I made 8 blankets for Christmas gifts. I cut them all at one time and folded them. I would take one with me to tie in the car while I was waiting to pick up kids.
Kids love these blankets! They are so soft and warm, but not heavy.
