Cranberry-Apple Relish
Cranberry-Apple Relish
Recipe DescriptionTasty way to use up all those cranberries that will be on sale on 11/28!!Preparation Steps:Chop cranberries (or run through food processor)Level of Difficulty:
Peel, core, and chop apples
Chop walnutseasyTime Needed:1/2 hour (+ prep time)Ingredients:4 c. chopped cranberriesServes:
1 lb peeled and chopped apples (any kind)
2 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. water
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. walnuts2 1/2 pintsDirections:Combine cranberries, apples, brown sugar, and water in large sauce pan or kettle. Simmer over med heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Stir in cinnamon and walnuts.
Cook five minutes.
If canning, process for 15 minutes in boiling water canner.DH aka Mad Hen

That sounds so good. I've never thought of adding brown sugar to cranberries.

can this be made ahead of time(say Wednesday afternoon-- day before thanksgiving) and then kept in the fridge till dinner Thanksgiving evening?

Oh, I bet it can be. Especially since it can also be 'preserved' by canning. It would probably hold up well for a couple of weeks in the fridge if kept airtight.

hubby and i made this the night before thanksgiving and kept it chilled till thanksgiving dinner-- it turned out really good.
