May Day!
May Day is right around the corner! Does anyone celebrate it?
I remember making a beautiful May Day basket out of a milk container during kindergarten. I was so excited to give it to my mom, until my brother who could run faster, told me that only one of us could give Mom a May Day basket. So, I took my May Day basket to the little old neighbor lady who was always so sweet to us. It evolved from homemade baskets to pretty pansies. I even had pansies delivered to her when I was in basic training and ait. I sent her pansies on May Day every year until she passed away.
Anyways, we have kept the tradition going by having Wesley make May Day baskets. I want him to make one this year and found the following website with some pretty cool basket ideas.

Now that I'm as old as the hills...I don't celebrate May Day. But as a kid, we did. Grade school celebrated May Day with races, games that involved running, jumping, & running some more. Since I have never been able to run-it was a day from h*LL. I have seen pictures of the early 1900's where they had a May Pole. Kids dressed in their finery walking around a pole holding onto the pole by ribbon. And I would think-what fun is that? But-you're not running. LOL

I must have lived a sheltered life because I never, ever have heard of May Day.

I remember making flower baskets too. In the fourth grade we did a big may pole show for may day. We practiced for weeks. It was lots of fun. Oooh I'm inspired and will be making baskets today. Can not wait

We used to may May Day baskets when I was young and put them on neighbors' doorhandles, ring the bell and then run away!!
Since I have lived in Hawaii, May Day has a different meaning -
May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii!! Flowers and leis are everywhere. If it was a school day, we would be making and giving leis all day. There is a plumeria tree right next to my room with an abundance of flowers. I'm sure someone from the community will make their way to our campus and pick the flowers from all the plumeria trees!!
Happy May Day everyone!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I bet that is so beautiful, Maui!
My mom let me put flowers on doorsteps when I was younger, I pretty much gave it up towards pre-teen years and didn't carry it on with my own daughters.
My bf and I have declared it our anniversary date (as we don't have a set one) so today we are celebrating 2 years together.LDR

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.
