    Default Impending anniversary.

19 years coming up on the 23rd! Dang, has it been that long?
I'm asking you ladies, what to buy??

First thought is one of those Kitchenaid mixers or a new fishing pole.

Help me out, but do not tell me jewelry, she has enough. (her words)

    Russ,

I can only speak for myself. Birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, etc. are NOT about giving me something. Some of my best memories are DOING things with my husband. In general, very little money is involved.

FYI - I BEGGED for a generator for my birthday and Christmas for over 2 years. Hubby didn't want to get one for my birthday. I finally convinced him it was what I WANTED!

My vote is for a romantic picnic that is planned and made by you. Congradulations! :salute:

Do something special. It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as there is meaning behind it. Zac surprised me with a necklace on Valentine's Day--it is an ametrine. An ametrine is a gemstone that is a blend of amethyst (Wesley's birthstone) and citrine (Maggie's birthstone). He got HUGE brownie points for that.

So go with something that you know she will enjoy or use. It doesn't have to be practical. Doesn't have to be spendy. Just has to be something from the heart.

Although, knowing your wife's love of shopping, I would suggest taking her shopping. Going with, watching her try stuff on, make suggestions, etc. Zac did that for me for my birthday and it was a GREAT day.

Did she ask for a KA? If not, I wouldn't buy her any appliances that she hasn't specifically asked for. Bad, bad, idea

    Happy Anniversary

I vote for planning a romantic day/recreating a special memory from your past unless she asked for a KA. I am way more impressed when hubby plans things like that instead of buying me things

No appliances. These are household tools for doing work and should not be given as gifts. The implied message is you only value her as a domestic servant. Even if she asks for something... never as a birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift.

An outing would be nice. Theatre tickets, or a concert, theme park, hiking weekend, art exhibit... whatever she likes. A gift card to her favorite craft or hobby store, on the side is also a good choice, IMO, something you can stick in the card or hide under her pillow.

I vote for a sappy card or one you can write your own sentiments in & flowers - if she's into that AND you don't do those things already. Surprise factor increases exponentially here THEN go with an experience...not sure what she's into, adventure, spa, day flea marketing or something?

However having said that , it is BOTH of your anniversaries...why not just flat out ask if she wants to get away for the wknd or do a day trip together somewhere. The only thing is to make it neutral, either something new and foreign to you both or something you both enjoy doing...not something only for one person's preferences. Something for BOTH of you.

But def do the card & flowers to let her know you're thinking of her on your special day.

A gift certificate for a massage is a nice gift. (Bonus points for a hot stone massage - heavenly!) A weekend away, just the two of you, to a place you know she enjoys would be good too.
