    Default what do you celebrate

A recent post made me wonder if you celebrate anything unusual? Or something not widely celebrated.

In December we have St. Nicholaus who visits the children leaving treats in their shoes at night.

Other than that, I can't think of any others that we do, But I am sure there are lots of them.

We celebrate St. Patrick's Day by making green eggs and for breakfast! I started doing this when the kids were little and their favorite book was Green Eggs and Ham and it kind of just "stuck". We also celebrate the anniversary of when Jeff and I became a couple all those many, many years ago!

Summer and Winter Solstice-- as a reminder of my heritage.

May Day--- German heritage as well, and we've always celebrated it.

We're not Jewish and there aren't many (if any Jews in our area) but we celebrate Passover as a prelude to Easter. I had a Jewish friend in college who showed me the proper way to celebrate it.

The county that we live in has "Pioneer Reunion" each year as a celebration of the the pioneers that settled our county. We celebrate as a community with parades and rodeos. The Pioneer Queen and her court are all elderly women who have lived here all there lives. It is really beautiful to see these older women in their lovely dresses and shawls riding on the float. I love that we pay homage to the elderly for all that they have done for us.
