    Default a developing problem...

its almost Christmas and I have things for everyone to open except Mom - she is very hard to get things for - everything anyone has ever gotten her she has all ways said Oh its nice but I would have preferred the cash. I can't think of anything to give her - and I wouldn't care except that she used to always have an actual crying tantrum on our birthdays if people brought us something and not her - I don't know if she will still do that and I don't want the kids to see that - in the past if she was going to be around for birthdays or Christmas I have always had something for her so she wouldn't act like this and humiliate herself - but this year I am just blank - she doesn't need anything and she has no wants - she won't take on any new hobbies and she has things from all of the hobbies I have tried to get her into in the past. I don't want my kids to see her act like the "forgotten child" and hear her say over and over "noone ever cares about me"- but honest to god, outside of the box of chocolate covered cherriesI 've gotten, I don't know what to get her - and she will need the same number of gifts as each kid - 11 - to open - I am just at a loss - any ideas would be greatly appreciated but just know she does not like anything normal or that anyone else has - she is an athiest vegetarian democrat with very strong antagonistic characteristics. Bruce wanted to get her Rush Limbaugh !!!

Maybe a personal calendar? Or small planner?

How about a neat plant that she can personally take care of herself? Get her a box of fertilizer to go with it.

Thanks ladies- I had totally forgotten about this problem til I talked to my brother the other day - and he reminded me and with all of the horrific details of our childhood birthdays - I honestly don't know if she still does this but I am not taking any chances. Are there any Democratic group "things" out there to participate in?

On a more serious note, I'd try new pillows or new pillowcases. Always a winner over here.

kimmie, yes I do know of a group that your mom would most likely enjoy. I belong to a great AOL group called nononotbush. We started with about 20 members and have grown to about 100. You can participate as much as you like, or as little as you like. Does your mom know how to use the internet? Seriously, I could ask the group leader to invite her to join our group if she likes. We don't bite

    My first name is Lynn

Hi Lynn!!! I love having a first name for you now - I refer to you for a lot of things on our site here and I never knew your name!! My mom would like that - but I do not know if I want her online yet as I have enough problems with my kids downloading viruses. Is this group by any chance meeting locally in different cities?

I wouldn't know what to get her maybe some cookies with a broom and dustpan to go along with it so she can clean up her crumbs. (just thinking about one of your earlier post.)

Seriously, maybe some nice warm slippers, a fuzzy robe, a nice set of pj's.
