Does This Sound Crazy ??

We will be having a holiday get-together with the two closest families/friends soon. I had an idea but want some feedback if you will.

All families involved have plenty of expenses (2 or more teenagers..lol) and I know that even small gifts all around will prove expensive. That's where this idea comes in...but please tell me if it seems cheesy or stupid.

Each person will have a small slip of paper for all of the other persons involved. On the slip would be printed "my gift to you would be..." and the persons name printed or written outside the paper and each would be rolled into a scroll tied with a ribbon. All of the scrolls would be placed in a holiday basket, to be opened and read at the "gift-giving" time.

My thought on this is that each person must give this serious thought just as if they were picking out the "best" gift for that person, and not just jot something down. An example--Mary reads many Christian books so one of hers could be either a book or g/c to the Christian bookstore.

What's your view on this....possible good idea....bad idea or just downright crazy ??

Sounds like a good idea, but would you be open to a idea? What if you had "I would get you _______", but add to that something like, "but I am giving you _____" and add something that is cost free; like a kitchen floor mopping, night of baby sitting, homeade picture frame out of magazines, etc. Let us know how everything goes!
