Talking Anybody else watching their life speed up in December???

My GOODNESS!!! Dh got home from his course on Saturday, I went to a party that night, got home, went to church Sunday, took DD to Costco and did some grocery shopping, then Monday was a blur --I made fruitcakes, plus I've been cleaning, trying to get ready to put the tree up.

Dd is coming on Wed, for trimming the tree, and I promised her a nice dinner.

I had company at lunch today.

For a quiet homebody who doesn't have a second car, this is a headspinning social whirl.

Is it just me or did the first weekend in December feel like it started with a bang?

Costco was jammed with holiday shoppers, the stores and parking lots are full.

I agree! It seems like it is flying right by. I was mentioning this to a co-worker today. I couldn't believe how fast it was going.

Nope, I refuse to let it. I'm determined to enjoy the month rather than get caught up in all the hussle and bussle of the season.

My tree is up, however I took all day to put it up and decorate it, a wee bit at a time.

I'm not going to any parties. I'm not doing any extra baking.

    Yes, it is a whirl!!!
Not with parties but with shows, rehersals and recitals! My weekends are chock full until the 18th!
Youngest Dd has 6 violin/fiddling shows (includes one for rest home and 3 for churches).
Son has 5 cello/ orchestral concerts
Eldest Dd has 4 piano recitals.
Three of the above shows they are performing together. Eldest also had 2 choir shows.
And they are all in a Christmas pagent and we are busking weekly for the Sally-ann!

It is alot. But we don't school during Dec. and the Children really enjoy it otherwise we wouldn't do it. It is the reward for all their practicing. So December is a month of Music for us. Some of it formal some informal (like Caroling in the neighbourhood). And believe it or not I do turn things down!

I never did anything school related in December either, and I noticed a lot of other hs mums used to scale back a lot or take the month off too. We still got thru the schooling stuff just fine, but it meant that it was even more laid back than usual.

yep, its busy busy busy here, i'm trying to finiah making some last minute gifts and am making stuff for some friends that I'm swapping with for other stuff. I have a party on Sunday night with DH shooting club - the commitee have volunteered me to make up a big hamper for the couple whose land they use, and 3 hampers for quiz prizes, so I have to go shopping for all the stuff and make up the baskets - it was so nice to be given 3 days notice to do this!!, also this weekend the tree is going up and Ciara and I are making cards for her school friends and teachers. Next week will fly by as DH is away for 3 days working in England and he is away tonight as well, I am really looking forward to the 23rd when we go over to Mums house for a week!

Yes, but due to circumstances beyond my control (i.e. school concerts, projects, etc.). I haven't made any extra plans because I know I'd be overwhelmed. Pretty much it's the same old same old--with the exception of the school stuff I mentioned above.

We are busy as well, last weekend we finished up our decorating and my mil's as well, attended a 60 birthday party for my aunt and shopped till we dropped. Last night dh and I went to the mall and only bought 1/2 of what was on our list. Tuesday night was spent picking up a new desk and chair for dd.

Dd#1 is comming home from college so my dh is moving 1/2 her stuff home today the other 1/2 sometime next week.

This weekend is my cookie swap and I only have 1/2 of the cookies I need in my freezer and I have no umph to finish them. I also have not done any of the grocery shopping or do I know what I am serving for snacks. I do have my grab bag allthough it is not wrapped.
Sunday we have made plans to have dinner with my sisters family and go to see Christmas lights in Springfield MA, which is over an hour away from where we live.

Lol I just read over my post is there such a thing as a 1/2 holiday? I seem to have an awful lot to do and only half way there. The list goes on I have promised my neice that I would attend her winter concert, we have chocolate making with dd's and their friends comming up, I also like to attend at least one church function or program with my mil during the season. (we do not attend the same church) I need to squeeze in a day with my neice to make party favors for our Christmas Eve party, not to mention keeping up with my regular housework with all the decorations up. I have not started my cards and I have very little wrapping done. I love to go to our local carol sing in the center of the city but I think I will pass on that one this year.
I have been doing all these activities for years but this year I am so tired.

The days seem to be flying by because I wake up in the dark and come home from work in the dark. Even though I have been staying up late to work on projects the days seem so short no matter what time it is.
