Default How do you spend New Years Eve?

I am wondering how you all spend New Years Eve and New Years Day?
Normally, DH and I stay at home alone on New Years Eve. We rent a few movies, make up snacks such as cheese and crackers, chip and dips, fruit and dip and curl up with those. We also have a pork roast and kraut with hot dogs in the oven so we can have the traditional midnight feast. Most times I also make some periogees to go with it. Then he and I curl up, snack, watch movies and look at the Christmas tree which is still up.

This year, DH has to work until 10, so DS and I decided to host a childrens New Years Eve party for our grandchildren and a few of their friends. We will make a craft, play games, watch a movie and of course have food and snacks. My DGD is just 2 so I will leave and be home before midnight so I can still watch the ball drop with DH.

New Years day we normally visit MIL and DH family, having dinner together. We might also try to take the tree down.

Our New Years Eve sounds a lot like yours. Movies and snacks pretty much sums it up. I'm not really a new years celebration kinda gal. I'd much rather stay home.

It varies around here. Sometimes we go out, just DH and I. Sometimes we host a New Year's Eve Party with friends and family, but most of the time we stay home and watch Dick Clark bring in the New Year. We are still undecided as to what we will do this year.

As for New Year's Day we stay home and eat black-eyed peas and cabbage for good health and good wealth. Maybe we didn't eat enough of those this year. Need to eat twice as many this year.

I'm in my jammies at 7 and asleep at 8. I'll be up bright and early at 4 and will spend the day at home while DH is at the store.

We rented the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." We'll watch that, then maybe watch Law and Order (which will undoubtedly be on some channel) and I'll probably fall asleep on the couch. Rob will wake me at 11:58, and I'll be upstairs asleep again by 12:02.

We're pretty much homebodies and we like it that way!

We normally stay home and rent movies for New Year's Eve. We're both usually asleep before midnight.

We attend our church's "watch night" service (8p.m - midnight). We usually spend New Years with my maternal grandparents. This year we are going on Monday instead since New Years is a Sunday. We'll eat, play family games, and just rest (heavenly after the holiday craziness!)

We spend it my brothers, sisters and their wives and husbands. We all chip in for steaks and either baked stuffed lobsters or shrimp. We then play games. This year we will be playing texas holdem. We will bring in the New Year together and be home by 1 a.m..
New Years day is spent at home with my girls it is the only holiday that we spend together just the 4 of us, with maybe 1 or both of the boyfriends. I am making dh's Christmas ham that he recieved from work for dinner.

we pretend we are at an elegant restaurant and make some "fancy" foods (this year it will be what ever we have available, perhaps onion soup baked potato skins, stuffed mushrooms etc) and dress the table elegantly and light the candles. We all help prepare the meal and set everything up.

We then spend the evening playing games and watch a special movie. We look at old photographs. We talk about special times and our Favourite memories.

Then we toast the new year with Ginger Ale!!!
    The children light sparklers.
We yell Happy New year and bang some old pots. We watch fireworks (if there are any) from our balcony....we have a view of the valley so we can see any that are going off across the river.
Then we are in bed in 10 minutes!

This year, since I am off work New Year's Eve, I plan on watching a few movies and doing the snack thing. I will probably be in bed asleep by 10pm ( have to work at 6am New Year's day). Will do the pork roast and sauerkraut for dinner on Sun.

We will be at home with a movie this year too! We just do not feel like going anywhere for fear of drunk drivers.

This year will be the first year we have gone out on New Years since we met. We usually don't make it up until midnight. At least I don't. I can get almost there, but almost always fall alseep just before the countdown.

We made plans with some friends to out to eat Saturday without realizing that it was New Year's Eve. I am going to have to cancel those plans, we never go out on that night because things are just to busy and crazy. We will stay home and watch a movie and have a nice supper here. Probably in bed by 12:05 , we are not late night people.
