Memorial Day
Anyone going to Memorial day services? My family will be going to a service at our local cemetery this afternoon. If you can't go to one please take time to reflect on what it means to be an American and what many have sacrificed for all of us, our children & our childrens children.

I'd like to, but I haven't found any local services or even parades to attend.
I know there have to be some, but neither the city paper nor several online local news sites seem to have any listings.
DD and I will be going to two cemetaries and putting up summer flowers on several family graves. My FIL was a veteran- I forgot to get a new flag for his headstone, so I guess we'll stop somewhere on the way and pick up a new flag.

There are a lot of brave people who sacrificed their lives or their health so that the rest of us have freedom. God bless them, and their families.

My mom and brother marched in a parade this morning. My brother is 11 and I think it really helped him understand that Memorial Day is not just a "goof-off" day.

Well we decorated the graves yesterday. Dad can't handle large crowds. Today we actually went and helped our friends (husband in the military) with their acquired house. He thanked us for helping and I thanked him for defending our country.

We were in DC over the weekend and we went to Arlington National Cemetary, the Vietnam War Memorial and WWII memorial. It was a very intense experience. Seeing all of those tombstones and names on the Wall made the sacrifice seem so much more real than reading about in history books. I highly reccommened the National Cemetery to anyone who has never been!
