Depends-I generally do 6-8 people, my dining room is small, sometimes we do a backyard bbq, but generally a sit down dinner. I like to send written invites-usually just a quick note on a pretty card. I usually have a veggie plate, cheese and crackers and one appetizer ready when they arrive, then about 45 minutes later I serve dinner. Sometimes we do theme nights-Latin night we make sangria, serve paella and listen to latin music, I've done country style bbqs, ribs, steak, corn on the cob, beer and lemonade, country music etc. Usually everyone offers to bring something, so I usually have them bring dessert or wine. Hope that helps.
