    Default 10 years ago today...

...DH and I tied the knot.
It's been a LONG TOUGH road for us as we lived in 2 different states for half of that time. So, I'd love it if we could celebrate somewhere away from home, but frugally. Any suggestions??

Do you know anyone with a cottage? My boyfriend and I just spent a night last weekend at his father's cottage on the lake and it was a nice retreat for us. We only spent the gas money to get there and we ate dinner out once. If not, maybe you could "house sit" for a friend or family member if they will be going away, just to change your surroundings and atmosphere.

Our 15th was last year and we went to Branson. We saved a lot of money by doing the planning/making reservations online. We also used a local restaurant magazine (free at various locations) to get a coupon for a good discount on a very nice dinner. It also helped that we were able to stay with famly both on the way down as well as on the way back.

For our 10th we kind of splurged. We drove to a town about 45 miles away and rode the "mystery train." It was dinner and a short mystery play while the train went on a short trip. Members of the audience were chosen to read the various parts. I always get chosen for stuff like that -- don't know why, I'm really rather shy. We spent about $60 for the two of us, but as I said we splurged. It was something we will always remember. We also started planning early and saved a bit of money for the occasion.

Back in the early, very poor days I always looked for a good coupon to a nice restaurant. We've had a lot of 2/1 anniversary dinners over the years.

    By the way, congratulations.

Can't wait til and I can claim the same thing!

Why not go camping? Or spend a day site-seeing in your home town? Or go visit relatives? Or rent a fancy car for a day and just drive and drive and drive?

Go on an adventure! Do eeany meeny miny mo for North South East or West & jump in the car & drive til you find a nice place to stay. Or grab a tourist info brochure that has coupons etc & pick one of those. Pack some food, a bathing suit, massage oil...
