Please help me with my party!
We're having our housewarming party this Saturday at 7pm. I have to work Saturday from 10am to 6pm. We already have burgers and hot dogs to grill for food, and I know we'll have chips and salsa, and guacamole too.
But I need some more ideas for snacks! I don't want to use the oven because it'll get too hot in the house. And it has to be stuff I can either prepare beforehand, or something that I can throw together in a few minutes. Also, cheap! We don't have that much more money to spend on food, thank god I decided to make it a byob party.
Thank you in advance!

How about baked beans cooked in the crock pot? That would keep from heating the house and you could put them on before you leave for work.
If you did a potato or pasta salad you could store that in the frig until you are ready for it.Robbin

Okay, I just read your post again and you said snacks, not side dishes.
How about a cookie tray or a fruit tray.Robbin

Besides what you mentioned a fav of mine is Hummus and plain toritilla chips. Pluses are it's made ahead & it doesn't mind sitting out.
~Hummus~
2 (15oz) cans chickpeas,drain and reserve juice
3 cloves garlic,minced
1/4 c. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1tsp. grd. cumin
few drops hot sauce to taste.
Mix all except reserved juice in food processer or blender. Slowly add reserved juice to consistancy. Best if made ahead so flavors can get cozy.
Popcorn & Chex mix are nice too.
You can always ask your friends to bring snacks to help you celebrate, nothing wrong with that!~*Darlene*~

For me it's (depending on how many people you'll be having) about 4-8 cans of pork n beans, a large chopped bell pepper, a large chopped onion, I'm guessing at a cup of 1/2 ketchup 1/2 bbq sauce, a cup of brown sugar and some worcestershire sauce to taste. I'd mix it all up and if you need more bite add more bbq sauce and worce. sauce, if it needs more sweet more brown sugar. Put it in, on low all day.
Also those little smokie sausages in bbq sauce are quick and easy and always a bit hit. You can put those in and cook on low all day too.
