Anybody looking forward to Black Friday Shopping?
Or anyone avoiding it? Dh and I like to finish up all our shopping before then and go out just to see all the excitement and chaos of it...cheap entertainment.

We go to the beach on Thanksgiving, stay at one of DH's company condos and hit the huge outlet mall they have in the Destin area. We love it - the chaos, the mad rushes, crazy people, lots of shopping, etc...it is great. We wait all year for Black Friday.

Not quite...but close! Will be done for sure by Black Friday! I have to pick up one thing for Dh and I already know where the best deal is for it; need gift cards (from used book store...will buy with trade in credit) for MIL and her bf; and just a couple other little things to fill in Dh's stocking. Got all the other things done! Woo-hoo!!

Black Friday
I only heard about Black Friday for the first time last year. We don't have Thanksgiving in Australia.
By that time in November, though, I like to have almost all my Christmas shopping done. I keep a list in my purse all year and buy when I see sales or "specials". When I buy an item I mark it off next to the recipient's name.
With most of my family living in Britain , I have to have most stuff bought by September anyway to catch the last posting date for surface mail. The stores don't usually have the Christmas wrapping paper and gift tags on sale that early so I buy as much as possible in the January sales.
Just joined this forum today, hoping to get some good, useful information.

I usually get stuck working for at least a few hours that day (I always forget to get my PL request in). I just come home. I am done with shopping this year anyway and we always like to go out the weekend after Christmas and get the sales.

I'm working that day, so no shopping for me. I went last year and even though I was at the store before it opened, I still didn't get the item I came for. There were too many people ahead of me that wanted the same thing!

we usually only hit the walmart one (since thats the only store close to us) but we've learned in the past years to passover the huge superstore and go the littler one closer to my mothers house. their stuff is usually cheaper then what was advertised and they have more things on sale then what was advertised. they also have some of the stuff sitting in baskets in the aisle and you can pick them up before the sale starts, you just cant pay for them at the sale price until the designated time. we went and got everything we were after (plus more) and was out again in less then an hour.

My girls want digital cameras for Christmas so yes, I'm getting out. I am going to avoid Bestbuy like the plague. If they have any good deals I'll see if Walmart will price match it. We usually go to Staples every year. They have a ton of FAR items. May hit Officemax. They have a good deal on a camera I want but CVS has the same one I want and is offer $30 in ECBs on it. Problem is that they usually just have a "limitted" supply of items. I'm going to have to wait until all the ads are leaked out on the internet. ONly a handful are leaked at this time. Walmart is threatening to sue any website that puts out their ad on the internet.

I never go. I really don't like crowds, they get my back up & shoulders tense.

I'm usually finished with my Christmas shopping by then. But it's a great time to find bargains, sometimes if there is something I need for myself or dh.
And it's become my tradition on Thanksgiving night -- after the hub-bub of a big dinner and family -- to sit on the sofa while dh watches t.v. and I sit there with a million store ads.
We like to gauge the economy by reading the ads, too!

I usually go out every black friday to do lots of shopping. This year I am done with eeryone but my 2 kids. I will go out this year to look for good bargains and try to get good deals. I have lots of patience and enjoy the time I have away from my kids and usually stay out until lunch. I am not super excited this year as i have no idea what to get for my kids. Maybe when the paper gets out for that day!
