Super Bowl party ideas?
I have never had a Super Bowl party and this year I'm having one! I suppose I should wait to see if the Patriots are going to be in, but given their 17 wins, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and planning anyway.
Any ideas on food and fun?Mom to two crazy boys

I have an awesome recipe...and it is actually called
Superbowl Gameday Dip
It is so good....my hubby and his friends request it anytime they have a get together!
1 pkg tube sausage
1 can petite diced tomatoes (w/ green chilis is the best!)
1 - 8 oz. pkg sour cream
1 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese
Cook sausage in a skillet, drain grease. Add tomatoes and simmer for half hour (I simmer for only a few minutes and haven't noticed any difference in taste). Add sour cream and cream cheese. Heat through until melted.
Serve warm with crackers (my husband likes it best with triscuits, I like it best with Wheat thins).
But I guarantee you....this dip is always a hit!

"IF" the Pats are in???

There is a site that has some ideas on a SB party... mostly they said that potluck is okay, and remember that people are going to be eating at the tv (or standing up if there is no room... so the food needs to be portable...
Maybe this site will give you ideas for a menu. (Food Ideas)

Here's a dip that has had the plate clean every time I make it and it's SOOOO simple!
2 containers sour cream
1 (8 oz.) package shredded cheddar cheese
3 oz. bacon bits
Mix all together and serve with potato chips. This is also super good (if by chance you get any leftovers) on a baked potato.

we always have (homemade) chili and corn chips.
then some regular chips (and dip if requested)... whatever ya'll like.
depending on who is coming over, i might put out a deli and/or veg tray too.
i have made in the past: pigs in a blanket, pizza biscuits (use biscuits, add pizza toppings), bbq or hot wings/nuggets, mozzerella or jalapeno "poppers", steak fries (w/seasoning)...
dessert: brownies, cookies, lemonbars, pumpkin bars (like tiny punkin pies!)
drinks: liquor/beer of choice, soda of choice, juice/milk (for the kiddos)
there's more but that's what i CAN remember! LOL
I also did a lot of preparation the day BEFORE so all i had to do was heat through or just pop in the oven a few minutes prior.

On non-food related ideas --
Ask your guests to dress in the colors of the team they are supporting
Decorate a sheet cake like a football field
Provide face paint in team colors by mixing 2 Tbsp cornstarch, 1 Tbsp solid shortening (such as Crisco) and a few drops of food coloring

taco dip --- layer refried beans on a platter, top with salsa, sour cream, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese and green onions. (Some people put olives on theirs!)

Another good dip... spread a block of softened cream cheese in bottom of microwavable dish (I use a pie dish), spread a can of chili (either with or without beans, whatever you want) on top and top with shredded cheddar. Microwave or pop in the oven until cheese is melted. Serve with Tortilla chips.

Some of my favorite party foods are: honey mustard wings, hot wings, jalapeno poppers, veggies and dip, egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce, Vietnamese spring rolls, chips with various dips, coconut shrimp, taquitos, French dip sandwiches, chili, etc... One of our favorites is little smokies wrapped with bacon and baked with brown sugar on top. A relative makes an easy appetizer. She slices up kielbasa, tops the slices with a good barbeque sauce, and heats them in her crockpot.

You have to have spicy wings at a football party. Pan fry first to get crispy, then put sauce on (there are several good store bought sauces or you can make your own) and finish either in the oven or on the BBQ. Have Ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
Also, any kind of chili/cheese dip with corn chips or bread chunks is always good too.

I saw this posted at one of my military spouse forums & am going to try it:
Buffalo Chicken Dip
2 5oz. cans of chicken
2 8oz. pkgs of cream cheese softened
1 C. of Ranch or Bleu Cheese dressing
3/4 C of bottled Buffalo wing sauce
Shredded Cheddar cheese -- you decide how much
Beat the cream cheese, dressing, and sauce together, fold in the shredded chicken. Spread into a pie plate (coat with Pam first). Bake 350 for 15 minutes
Add shredded cheddar across the top, and bake 10-15 minutes longer.
Serve with Tostitos Scoops.
Otherwise, I usually serve cheese, crackers, pepperoni, wings, deviled eggs, chips & dip.

I was going to suggest the buffalo chicken dip, too!
We just had this at a potluck and it was a BIG hit.
