The best place to get drapery rods?

DH and I are in the process of replacing all the old window treatments for something that'll go with our new windows and trim. We have one large master bedroom window to cover and two smaller bedroom windows (one in the other two bedrooms). What is a good price range?

Once you know exactly what size you need, there are so many routes you could go, with big ranges in price. It's all about what you are willing to spend to get exactly what you want. If you are flexible in your decorating options then you could save a lot. You could try domestications or other online stores, ebay or goodwill and check their sales. You could also find someone that sews and find fabric and trim on sale at a fabric shop to save some $$$. Linens and Things and BB and beyond are always sending out coupons for 20 percent off that could help you out a lot.

I found some cute rods at Big Lots for $7 each for my smaller 36" windows in the living room. They had a lot of choices and sizes available.

Don't rule out your big box hardware store. Kinda neat what you can find and create with odds and ends with pipes from the plumbing section, decorative knobs from hardware, dowels, wooden balls etc. Spray paint it and no one is the wiser.

Also don't rule out your Mom & Pop local window treatment store.. Dh & I work in our family store and we have alot of people buy rods from us. Depending on sizes and stuff, alot of business's keep them in stock.

Just be sure to ask up front how much the shipping is, if you have to order them. . Sometimes it can be as much as $150 extra if you need really long rods..

DH and I went to JKSY today (a Mega one, at that) and got enough drapery, rods and finials for three rooms. We spent about 98.00 and I made sure I got the cheapest curtains they had (that looked nice) and their rods were pretty cheap too (3.98 per rod).

That's what i was going to suggest too. I made a lovely rod by taking a long (6 ft) dowel, sanding staining and finishing it with some pretty brass drawer pulls on the ends.

Ive made cool rods from PVC pipe, it paints well and you can hot glue ends on. I bought a coule of $2-3 matching lamps and took the finnials off the top (they hold the shade on -not all lamps have them, but most do) and hot guled them to the ends. They can be bought at walmort or such as well. Trying to attach a picture....

Otherwise, check Wal-mart, Pennys, sears, 20% off at LNT or BB&B, thrifts.

we had soem cheaper rods for our formal living room but we couldnt use them because they looked bent in the center of the rod. I guess the plastic would support a heavy drape.

What a neat idea and they look beautiful! I wish I could think of things like that.
