I need some creative ideas...
I posted this on my blog a couple of days ago, but I want to post it here, too. I bought this old birdcage at a yard sale for $3. I know people use them for decorating all the time, I just don't know what to put in it. I would love to use it for seasonal decorations, but I'm just drawing a blank. I'm pretty good at arranging furniture, but "merchandising" isn't my strong point. Please help! (links and photos would be particularly helpful)

Go gather some leaves, or get some straw.
Put them in the bottom and put a couple of gourds in there.
Get some miniture indian corn and hang from the top.
That can be used through thanksgiving.
For christmas, get some pretty wrapping paper. Some ribbons and a bow.
Weave the paper and ribbon through the "sides" and put the bow on top.
Or, put the paper on the bottom and embellish with the ribbon.
Or, put a couple of figurines in there on the paper.
Get a mirrored tile, place on the bottom, get some batting and make some "snow" and put a village in there with a small strand of the miniture lights strung across the top.
That's just off the top of my head.
Need anymore ideas, let me know. lol

My aunt has a birdcage in her living room filled with a HUGE fake ivy plant type thing. It's pretty.

You could also go to the craft store and make some sort of flower or plant arrangement out of silk flowers and or leaves to put inside.

Ok, one of the funniest things I've ever seen was a birdcage with a stuffed fake cat inside, and a fake bird on the outside, looking in.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Ha, Greebo. In our house, we have huge REAL cats we could stuff inside.

If you are looking for seasonal decor to go inside I would create little nature scenes inside of it.
For example, the autumn theme Moor posted about sounds like a great idea. Just putting in some hay, gourds, and dried corn and make it real pretty.
Or for halloween, try making the inside look like a little haunted house with little halloween decorations and some spider web stuff tucked in and out of the cage frame.
For Christmas make a little Christmas village inside of it like it's a beautiful little snowy village tucked inside. Or place little miniature evergreen trees inside it with some "snow" all around the bottom and maybe a little deer or some other little miniature wildlife creature lurking about for a winter-y nature scene.

Yeah but PETA and the ASPCA frown on THAT...

I've seen people put candles in there...various heights and colors with fall leaves, gourds etc.....

I have seen fall leaves and mini pumpkins in them. The prettiest one I saw had silk ivy in it and little white twinkle lights on it. Pretty in the day or evening.

Here is a little bit different idea that I run on to, I was looking at these as I have two old bird cages. I think these look awesome, they are desk organizers and work great. I haven't done mine yet, but think its next on the list to do.
