Lauri Ward books/staging/downsizing
Has anyone seen these? Has anyone used the principles to redecorate their home? I am just discovering them. She seems to be very practical about re-purposing what you already have. That appeals to me a great deal.
I'm wondering too which are the best books to use. We are looking at downsizing (got that book) and have a lot of clutter. Plus DH would like to move across the country in five years. Any ideas on whether this lady is a good person to use to approach this situation? Any ideas?
Also, will obviously need ideas for staging this home for sale. Does she cover that? Or do you have better suggestions for me?
I guess this is several posts in one...sorry...2012 Challenges

I've never heard of her. I'll be watching this thread because we plan to downsize too with a possible move west.

i have the book "Use What You Have Decorating". my living room looks more spacious since rearranging the furniture and putiing away the clutter.
my bedroom had the roller coaster effect she describes. I changed it according to her instruction. now it looks classy.
I like how she endorses using what you have instead of going out and buying stuff.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I've got DH talked into doing some shopping today for the upstairs bath for staging effects. We'll see what we come up with...

Okay, this book worked really well for us. I'm waiting for some things to arrive that I've mail ordered. Then the bath will be finished and I'll take photos for you all.
The book I used was "Downsizing Your Home with style". It covers how to de-clutter and get rid of things, as well as how to decide what to put in the room to maximize the space. Some really good ideas.
DH and I changed the shower curtain and hooks, garbage can, toilet brush, canisters on vanity and put shampoo/conditioner in dispensers in the bath. I can't believe how clean it makes everything look! We have a scale, TP holder, new towels coming soon. I have yet to shop for fabric for the window curtain. I may just buy a curtain...we'll see.
I'll be changing artwork on the walls too.
Hoping to be done by the end of the week.
