The scrape wood from a job site that DH used to make country style shelves 25 years ago that still hold my cookie jar collection to this day. We rearramge the jars with the seasons, we have over a hundred all picked up for under ten bucks over the years at yardsales and flea markets. Have the beach and summer themed ones on display in the livingroom now. The shelves also have knobs on them for hanging things as the whim suits me.

Mine might seem silly to some of you, but my money saving decorating solution is that I so dislike a cluttered home, that I don;t spend money on stuff. period. end of story. I have very nice pieces of solid oak furniture, and I let those be the decorating feature, not "stuff" piled on them.

my ex husband was talented and made most of the furniture. i also found a lot on the side of the road, and secondhand. nothing matches but it all works.

the other thing that worked was painting the concrete slab with floor paint. looks very nice.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
