Thumbs up slipcovers - found good ones at walmart

well, i have been dissatisfied with my sofa for some time, cat clawed and faded, but structurally sound.

when i lived in england, i visited many grand homes that were actually lived in. i noticed that rich people use slipcovers. a real contrast to the american who throws furniture away after a short time. so i learned, that rich classy people use custom slipcovers.

fast forward to 2009, sloppy sofa, what to do? i was walking around walmart and stumbled across sure-fit slipcovers. vey nice indeed. even went over the camelback of the chippendale sofa.

    good product!

freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I can remember my grandmother using slipcovers for her furniture in the ecru background with large cabbage roses.

I'm glad to know that Walmart carries slipcovers. Our sofa faded in some areas and we have been using slipcovers I ordered online. Still need to get a lighter colored one for summer!! Mahalo for sharing.

Thanks for the thumbs up. Do they have them for recliners? When I bought my big recliner I bought it for function, not appearance. I wanted an alternative to the bed in case of surgery (past experience - with two abdominal ones I could not tolerate the bed at all, and my recliner at that time saved me.) So I chose by how it reclined. I test drove them all. I sure the saleman thought I was a wacko. I insisted I want THIS one on the floor - not one from a warehouse, because they were all a little different.

Anyway, it is dark brown vinyl. Just isn't me. I would love to get something lighter over it. It looks nice in itself, but to my personal taste, it's something of an eyesore.

You can go to the sure-fit website and see what sizes their slipcovers are made for. Penney's, WalMart, and Big Lots have Sure-Fit slipcovers. They problem is finding them to fit YOUR furniture and if you need them for several items, to find matching ones.

update: i took down the navy blue curtains, washed and ironed them and hung them back up. the room looks fresh.

a visitor came over and commented that the room looked good better, but couldn't discern what i had changed. "did you redecorate?"

Sure-Fit does indeed have recliner slipcovers. Be sure to also check Overstock.com for slipcovers -- they carry the Sure-Fit brand and the prices are great.
