Default Repurposing Old Furniture into Something Different

Does anyone have any projects - completed, planned, or otherwise - for repurposing old furniture? Not just refinishing things, but really creative ideas for turning it into something different.

I've been surfing most of the afternoon (yes, a lazy day), looking at the most adorable play kitchens made from old entertainment centres. It's made me wonder what other cool ideas are out there, especially for 'junky' type furniture that you can get for next to nothing.

I pinned a bunch of the little kitchens that I found. Kids Stuff

So cute! Great idea to repurpose a dresser with broken drawers. Got me thinking that you could probably make lots of things with a broken dresser if you just got rid of the drawers.

Okay, I've gotten totally obsessed with the play kitchens - I must have secretly wanted one as a child

I went on kijiji and looked at cheap old furniture all day. My daughter is six though, so I thought an entertainment centre would be too low. So I started looking at old desks...next thing I knew I was arranging to pick up a desk similar to the picture attached.

I thought I could paint it red, with a white top; put a sink and a pretend stove on top; remove the drawers to make an oven & dishwasher or cupboard; and put shelves in the leg hole with a curtain in front.

Maybe a board in behind to put a backsplash and pretend window - but I'm thinking Christmas present so already REALLY pushing it.

Am I insane to think I can get this done? I am terrible for underestimating how long it takes to do things.

    BTW, the desk is free

I love the dress up thing! Super cute. My husband took a tall dresser and took all the drawers out and turned into a dollhouse with multilevel for my niece that lives in Texas. He did it about two years ago and my sister says she still loves to play with it.

OH very cute! I haven't done anything like that. I do have an entertainment center as my headboard right now. Its pretty handy with all the shelving. My clock is where the tv would go, and then other bedroom necessity stuff is all on different shelf levels. We strung through two power strips one on each side for lamps and cell phone chargers, etc.

Here is another site that shows old dressers turned into something else. I am thinking about using the one with the tv on it where its turned into an entertainment center. We are building a new home and just bought a bigger tv and I think this would be a perfect solution if I can find an old dresser.
