How do you dress a bay window?
I have a very nice bay window above my kitchen sink... I love it. But how do you hang curtains on it??
I plan to make some type of quilted curtains for it (frogs... lol)....
Any ideas?
PS I would love to take a picture to show you it... but my digital camera is on the fritz today.

I'm doing frogs in the kitchen. I got this Fat Quarter in a trade that I just love with little frogs all over it... I plan to work it in with some other greens and beiges and quilt a valance type of thingy. But how do I hang it up?

I guess I would have to do it in 3 parts.... maybe do the PVC idea. I could paint the PVC green and then make the curtains with the tab kind of hangers. Or I could just make regular curtains and hide the PVC. Or I could use regular rods. Blah blah blah! lol
My head is spinning lookin at this place... so much to do. Its literally a blank canvas. I wish I had money and ideas to just do it up fancy! I wish you girls were here to help me too!Sherry

When I had one, I used a mini blind...cheap. Then you can cut frogs out of fabric, glue them on the mini blind and cut the slits so it will open...just a thought.

LOL
I will try to post a pic, but I can't get my digital camera to work today for some reason. Grr!
Dave is on his way here with my machine and all of my fabric.
Keep brainstorming.
I like mini blinds... but I'm thinking I want to keep this window open. I like to look out it when I'm cooking and doing dishes... I plan to put some bird feeders and such out there too.Sherry

You know... now that I read your posts and look at this window... maybe it isn't a bay window. The panes are real skinny and there are 4 of them... the outside 2 are angled.
I don't think they make a curtain rod or a mini blind this skinny. At least to my knowledge.Sherry

I always did sheers with a regular valance on my bay window, needed the privacy since it was in the dining room. I had a 6 ft rod for each. I usually had mine "merchandised" seasonally since it was easily visible from the street.

Each section is about 12 inches wide... and there are 4 of them. They are all 4 angled, but the end 2 angle a little more than the middle 2.
The whole window is about 5-6 feet with the other trim and such.
Man, I wish this dang camera wasn't on the fritz!Sherry

Do you have sections of wall in between the windows or are all the windows touching. Trying to get a "picture" in my head. We have a bay window (3 sections) in the eat in part of the kitchen. When we moved in the lady had homemade Roman shades. They were very nice but not the colors I wanted. I put mini blinds up and plan on putting a swag over those.
Here are some directions I found. They sound easy enough for me to do. I am not very experienced in making things. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_windows_...380130,00.html

They are all touching.... the trim on them, not the actual glass. No wall between.
Edited to add.... I like those blinds as well. I am wanting to keep the windows open though. More of a valance/topper only thing.

I found this on another forum just now... I think it could work.
"An low cost alternative to curtain rods is to sew tabs or ribbon loops to the top of your valance, then screw simple cup hooks every 6 inches or so into the ceiling or wall, and hang the curtain from the hooks with the loops. "Sherry

That sounds like it will work. Don't forget to take pics once your camera is working again!

Is there a glass pane at the top? What I am featuring in my head is a garden window. But I could be all wrong. I used the dowel rods for curtain raods and painted them with the spray paint that makes things look like wrouht iron.
