Question Another Decorating thought/question? HELP LOL

Ok sorry my friends firstly LOL - I think I may be a bit manic! My head is BUZZING!!!

I can also never fully decide on anything hense probably my depression and half my problems!

Anyway to the point: I've been thinking about the decorating in the new house (obviously) Remember my seaside theme? Well I DO really love the sea and although I want the house to be 'happy' I wanted some kind of calm as well - BUT (isn't there always one?)

I haven't done anything YET in the living room and I'm thinking (always a bad sign!) The white sofas have been here about 2 weeks and much as I LOVE them I honestly can't see them working with all my kids I AM really gutted about this. Anyway I am 'wondering' about something completely alternative as a kind of 'theme'

Maybe seriously bright modern kid type colours or 'nightclub' kind of look (this could of course be because I'm manic LOL that's why I'm running it past you!)

I already have a black leather sofa (which I don't exactly like) BUT it is going to last FOREVER on the practical side and I'm wondering now about maybe red, cerise pink, bright blue, lime green, those kind of colours OR animal print maybe.

I'm not altogether sure WHAT exactly I'm thinking at the moment and also I don't want it to end up looking 'cheap'

I don't know if you know where I'm going with this thought? (I don't know if I do LOL) but if you have a clue what I'm on about do you think this is a good idea or the pits - and what ideas do you have???

I need honesty here and not kindness LOL - I don't want to be re-decorating the next day.

How can I make a decision???

Thanks in advance - sorry to rant on and on but it's doing my head in LOL

I think if that is what you want to do then I think you should go for it. The fun part of decorating is to experiment and if you don't like it then it should be an easy fix to change it again. Sometimes you never know what you may like until you try it. If you want to go for the more alternative/"nightclub" type theme I would stay away from the darker colors. You mention a lot that the brighter/happier colors make your mood happier. You can do this theme with bright colors. It should be fun and I can't wait to see what ideas you or the girls out here come up with.

I think it's best to know ahead of time before decorating how often you think you'll redecorate.
If you're in it for the long haul, then you have a lot of opportunity to add to a particular decor, but if you like diversity and change often-then you need to decorate with that in mind.

If more apt to wanting change often, then I'd go more eclectic and decorate with accessories changing like pillows, rug, curtains. Meanwhile keeping your favorite type items too.
The main thing is functionality for you and your family.

Sometimes something as small as lighting can give you the element of color that you want when that mood strikes you. (colored bulbs, lava lamps, etc) Or maybe just one or two pieces of funky furniture vs. an entire decor.

I honestly feel that if you always choose items that YOU really like, you can not really go wrong.

If you want calm, and you want it to go with your "SeaSide "theme what about, a "Troplical Oasis"? With palm trees and such?

I know what you mean about maybe being Manic right now, I feel the same way and NOTHING seems to be going right. I keep buying all this great fabric to do different rooms and am too Manic to do any of it yet! I know if I get started I'll think I messed it up and then Really mess it up!!

I'm just afraid that if you are Manic right now and do a "night Club" theme then once you finish your "cycle" will you still like it?
Just a thought. can you cover your furniture with some pretty fabric, then when you get tired of it you could change it and not be out a lot of money?

Sara I LOVE that site!!! Some of their furniture is mental LOL - Have you seen the lips sofa? Oh I wish we had a shop like that over here. I'd be skint LOL.

Ellise - I know EXACTLY what you mean - It's worrying me that what seems to be an excellent idea today - tomorrow will be my worst nightmare LOL (I'm good at that!) I'm soooooo impulsive as well I just jump right in and do these things and then wonder WHY??? lol - I painted a murial on a wall once in my house that I started at midnight and finished at 7am Luckily everybody thought it was nice (or they were very poliet!) but I always thought WHY? It just took me so long I didn't have the heart to change it LOL
