    Talking Decorating is starting!!!

Ok ladies...you all know that we are closing on the house on the 31st. I might be able to go in (partial possession) and start painting. Here are my ideas but I would LOVE to hear all of your's....

I'll start with the living room: We have a khaki colored couch and love seat. We plan to paint the living room a mocha color. We also have the white molding around the windows and at the ceiling. Do you think this would be ok? Now...we can't decide what kind of curtains do you think would look good? Style/color? The colors we have in the house are burgandy, browns, greens, beige.

The dining room is going to be painted a brick red color. We like the whole french/wine look for the kitchen and dining room. I can't decide what color to do the kitchen in. It's right beside the dining room. I was thinking about yellow but I'm just not sure. What ideas do you have?

I'll ask about the others later. Just wanted to see what ya'll thought about this.

Oh...there are hardwood floors throughout the house.

If you are doing your living room in Mocha and have khaki colored furniture, then I would go with a soft creamy easy flowing curtain in there, maybe a soft white or creamy white, just Not STARK white. What material is your furniture?

As for your kitchen, I'm thinking to keep in step with your French/Wine color in the diningroom , I'd go with a softer color that blends with the dining room.

Just a thought with a Mocha Living room and a Brick Red dining room is that going to be rather "dark"? maybe you should go with a lighter color than Brick Red for that room? Maybe a "Coffee Cream" or Vanilla Cappuccino.
I'm just afraid that it'll be too dark for you. I do think the colors will be very nice together but like I said.

I am doing the whole French/Italian bistro look in my Kithcen, with grape vines, grapes, leaves all in the natural "grape" colors and words representing the flair. Cabinets are stark white (which I do not like) but think it will look nice once I am finished.

Oh Daphne, I'm soooo excited for you.

I was thinking that was dark too, Ellise. You could always lighten it up and use the wine color for accents.

I also think yellow would be good...but a mustardy yellow...will tie in with the wine/french theme of the dining room...that is the style and color I prefer as well....I am so excited for you! Can't wait for pics!

I think the colors you picked sounds great (I love darker colors, don't be afraid)
Depending on the layout of the house I might do curtains in a creamy color but with stripes or something with the colors of the diningroom and kitchen (if they are right there) so they will all "go" together.
Also depending on how mych sun comes through the windows whether I would go a lighter fabric or a heavier fabric, I need pictures :~) to see what I would do.
I would also go mustard just because I don't like bright yellow but that is just me..

It is so much fun to get to do all that.... I love that kind of stuff!!
