Default When decorating, do you follow your mom's style or...

    Have one of your own?

I asked this at homesteadgarden, but the more I think of it, the more I think I follow my mom's style more than my own.

    ~she loves simple, me too
    ~she loves antique, me too
~she loves Victorian (so does her younger sister), me too
~she puts everything she can into decorative cans, me too
    ~she hates clutter, me too

    What about your style?

Definately not. My mom thinks "if it costs more, it's better". I like country things and mom does not.

My mother and I share a love of having a casual and welcoming lifestyle. We are both creative in our own ways.

My mother loves clean, clutter free lines.
    I love beautiful treasures!

We both enjoy antiques, but she goes for the solid look only and my tastes run the gamet.

I enjoy collecting and using old china, tableware, sterling silver and glassware.
My mother is at a point in her life where she wants things scaled down and practical.

I love old linens and use them. Mom wants new stuff!

Nope not at all. I don't like a modern style at all. My mother loves things to be modern.

Nope....my mom has the attitude of "if I had to live with it during my childhood....I don't want to live with it now". I love antiques, treasures, country style comfort. I am wanting to pare down, declutter but I'll never have a sleek, modern looking style. I'll always have to dust something.....lol

In some ways we are alike (collector's) but she is more country than me. She likes to copy me too,or if I mention a change I want to make, sh tries to beat me too it. I thinkI'm going to tell her I'm going for a circus theme and just wait for her to put up a big top...lol.

Not really, my mom liked the more modern styles & me on the other hand love the country & antique styles more.
