    Smile Shag carpet is back

What do you think of the return of shag carpeting?  I have seen it more and more in the television decorating programs.  I really thought that after the 70s it was gone gone gone but guess what--it's baaaack. LOL.  I have not seen the beautiful burnt orange and avacodo greens of the 70s but it is definately shag, nice tall and deep, the kind that just makes you want to dig your bare little tootsies down in it.    I like the retro feel of it but....I don't think I will be putting any in my house anytime soon.

I remember the shag carpeting and how hard it was to clean. No thank you!

When i was a baby mom had white shag carpeting. my father and his buddy were working on an engine in the yard, on a wheeled trolly thing. it started to rain...so they brought it inside, without bothering to put a drip pan to catch fluids. So as one would expect, it leaked all over the carpet. Father got a few kitchen items thrown at him for htat... never had shag again.

I love old retro things from the 70's, but I don't think I'll be putting any shag carpeting down in our house. Feels nice underfoot, but seems like I remember it being a lot of work to maintain - some of my mom's friends even had some kind of a rake they used to use on it....
