Color Suggestions
Okay, so in the new house, the family room has real wood paneling. I'm not thrilled, but Rob loves it. The whole room is paneled, except for over by the stairs where there is peeling wallpaper. What color paint do you think would go well on the wall that would complement the wood without making the room dark?

I would go with a neutral color, I think a khaki color would be lovely, it would not fight the wood (BTW, I love the knotty pine paneling, it is spectacular) for your eyes attention and it would blend well with the carpet too.
Congrats on the new house, it looks wonderful!

Soft greens, in the khaki type that are almost a taupe or tan, but with a greenish undertone. Not a warm green but more of a cool shade.
I've used greens like that to really make those warm oak shades in a medium wood tone like what you have really come alive and sparkle.
It's because they are opposite on the colour wheel.
By using a sort of pale greyed out khaki green that is almost a taupe or tan it reads as one of the modern neutral shades, but there is enough green in there to make the wood come alive and sparkle.

It would also make the stones in the fireplace and the carpet colour look good too.
Those tans and khaki's and taupey shades are the new neutral shades and the greens have an olivey sort of cast to them.

How would the same neutral shade as the cement which is used between the stones in your fireplace look? I think that color would blend well, and at the same time make the tones in your woodwork and fireplace stand out nicely.
