Dh *thought* he was off the hook....lol
Dd#2 and I recently did the hallway (texture, paint, ceiling, linen closet-inside and out). When we pulled the drawers out of the linen closet the glides were all messed up. We made a trip to town to get more glides and they didn't carry what we needed at the huge chain stores there. Well we came home and thought and thought and talked to a couple of people who do their own DIY projects. The general concensus was we were going to have hire someone to rebuild inside the cabinet so the side mount drawer glides would work. We had undermount and 40 yr. old ones at that so nothing that we found would work at all. I had a bright idea during the night to call a cabinet maker. We did that and he told me the name of the glides that I had and that he knew of a place in town that used to carry them. I called and they had them in stock. We drove in, paid $13 total for 3 sets (as opposed to oh I'd guestimate about $1000 to have all of our drawers-linen closet, bathroom, kitchen done at once to save the cost and aggravation of having done in 3 different sets). Yesterday dh spent the entire afternoon and most of the evening installing them.
He had a pretty sick look on his face when I said "yep they have em!". I think he thought that it was well worth the $1000 to pay someone else to do that job.
As it turns out he did that and installed the new light fixture and I didn't even have to listen to (very) much obscene language.
Sssoooo in the next few days I'll be doing the fun part of the re-do. Got all my picture frames to paint to match (in the pewter finish), need to get glass cut for the frames, and re-do the hardware in pewter finish as well. I'm sooo thrilled to have this job almost done. We still have 3 doors that will have to be replaced due to bad places in them. I will hire someone to hang those.......
