ideas needed for victorian/early american look

I need Ideas: We have a modern looking moduler home with hunter green throughout. My stuff is mostly country - pine/ americana looking. My live in BF is very into antiques of a dark pecan walnut type finish in satins, tassels etc. (I really like his taste!!) we live on a 40 acre ranch and that is the theme we want to put together - do you have any thoughts on how to change the house from the new modern finish (modular - etched glass- brass and cheap wood trim - linoleum in a modern print- wall papered panels in mod prints) to more of a country/ traditional parlor looking home?

Your home sounds wonderful~!

I'd probably add some:

~ lace/crocheted cotton runners, doilies
~floral wallpaper/or victorian stripes in the time period you are looking at or painting the panels in a historical colour
~painting your trim in a historical colour
~lace or sheer curtains
~linoleum~if $ is an option laminate flooring is nice and not as expensive as hardwood or you could put in an area rug

Large standing palm trees (either silk or real) and boston ferns are very victorian looking.....
Dark colors or large floral prints for wallpaper or borders.
Doillies draped on the top/back of the chairs and on the arms.
I'll try to think of more as well........

Thank you ladies this is great!! I actually have some of these things down in my clutter ( I mean accumulation) piles. Keep the ideas coming - they are fab!!
