    Default Craft Paper Walls.....

I have been thinking of redoing my living room, our house is provided by Matthew's boss, but we are allowed to make changes if it is for the better.

About two yrs ago, I helped a friend do her living room in Craft paper. Yes.....that brown stuff.

You tear the craft paper into decent size pieces and crumble them. Then you uncrumble and cover in wallpaper paste and smooth on your wall. Overlapping other pieces. It looks, awful as the paste is drying, but when it is done, it looks leathery. Very country looking.

Thinking about all this to myself, but figured I would share....

I love that technique and it is very country, it would look good in a western or even a victorian setting.

I covered an old file cabinet this way and it blends perfectly with my antiques.

Roxy, I did something simular to my Dinning room & Kitchen. I took tissue paper the kind you put in gift boxes and crumpled it, smoothed out somewhat then applied paint to adhere it to the walls. Looks a bit like plaster on the walls but WAY!! less expensive

I've been planning on doing that in my office. I have yucky panelling in here and think I'll do that below the chair rail and paint the walls a deep red above or a green a work towards an English gentlemen's study type theme. I have a couple of pics of dogs that have inspired me. I'll bet your room will turn out great Roxy. Be sure to post pics.

I love that technique! They did it on Trading Spaces once and I told dh that I wanted to do that in our house. He hated it of course, but I don't.
