Trash bags in the windows.... the neighbors must be so impressed!
LOL! I ordered blinds, but they won't be in until Tuesday. So, we've lived here a week and only have curtains on three rooms. Tonight I put trash bags over the windows in this room so I could play online without thinking someone was watching me. I think I'll take them down again before daylight. And we have trashbags on the windows of the master bathroom, too. So classy!

Hmmmm.... maybe I should copyright my lovely window coverings. And my secret installation method-- they stay up by way of static cling, no curtain rods needed!Originally posted by KKCondrey

We've been here almost two yrs and I still don't have blinds on all the windows. lol
I just put blinds in the computer room a few months ago and the one window is a huge window in the front. (3/4 of that wall)
I figured everyone else has blinds. rofl I'm sure our neighbors thought "there goes the neighborhood" as soon as we moved in. lol
There is no doubt in my mind that we are the poor rif raff on our street. Everyone else is loaded and over 50 yrs old. Most over 75.
I swear we're the only ones that hand rake, hand shovel snow, and mow our own lawn.
I like the trash bag idea. I'll try it if we ever break in a new neighborhood.
I'll never forget when we first moved in, one neighbor two doors down (about 80 yrs old) came by and said that the previous owners never straightened the mini blinds and they were always crooked. Who knew people were inspecting and monitoring windows so closely? ughIf you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. LOL, atleast you have privacy now. We just always used sheets and tacked them up when we first moved in a new house. Trash bags sound like a good idea.

Hey, we're still using sheets in the boys bedrooms because we just put in new windows and the curtains we had were too small. At least we took the cardboard out though. The old windows were worthless at keeping the heat out in the summer and the warmth in during the winter so we used cardboard to insulate them.
Yep, we are the "white trash" in our neighborhood and we even live in a trailer!!!!

Not far from us, in the country on the highway there is a new house that had not one curtain or window covering in any room visible from the road at nite. I was always amazed to drive by at nite and see people moving around in the house. I like your idea much better Amy! I was actually the victim of a teenage window peeper who told what he saw at school so I'm a bit compulsive about my windows at nite.
