Need help with a theme for a blue kitchen
My new house has a blue kitchen. I have never had a blue anything, not that I don't like blue but I have always had either neutral colors or greens in my houses. I have racked my brain trying to think of some type of theme to go with for this kitchen and I can't think of anything. Help me ladies please.
I am attaching a couple of pictures of my kitchen.

I can't make out the design on the wall paper. Looks pretty modern though . My kitchen is a blue gingham and yellow sunflower theme with pieces of white rustic furniture and white appliances. I have seen blueberries - and baskets of fruit. How about blubirds? Or how about pulling another color out of the wall paper and make blue the secondary color??

Kimmee, I don't know if this picture will show the pattern in the wall board any better. I would love to paint to kitchen white but we are just moving in and DH doesn't want to paint yet. We are hoping to be moved in within a couple of weeks. We are just waiting on the rain to stop so that they can bring it in.
I love the idea of blue gingham. Keep your ideas coming....they are great. How about ideas for any other rooms...

What kind of countertop items do you have - fresh clean lines - white - country - antique - baskets. Usually there is some prevalent theme in what you use all the time. Forinstance all of my countertop appliances are white so I made a few blue gingham covers - just for the ones that would get greasy - I have lots of clear glass canisters and white mesh baskets (for onions and garlic but I also put silf ivies in the top baskets and over the cabinets and that picks up the green leaves in my gingham sunflower fabric. I have taken a very modern looking kitchen and made it very homey (you don't even notice the tacky modular home wall paper it has ( we haven't been able to replace the dry wall yet - this has that preprinted panel board - so stunningly place in all newer modular homes
What kindof look do you want - country , modern, eclectic, My style is definately eclectic country!! Sheep and chicken and sunflowers in the kitchen with a victorian (red) dining room and a very Victorian parlor for a living room. My family room is Liberty blue and Victorian red and has Vintage Americana stuff - that would also be a really cute kitchen theme!! Do you get the magazine Decorating Ideas?

I love the blue willow dishes. You are giving me great ideas. Thanks for your help.
This is a manufactured home with the tacky wall board (what are the designers thinking when they stick that in our homes
) I love everything else about my kitchen except the wall board. I have the same stuff in both of the bathrooms too. I am going to use a Texas flag theme in the guest bathroom. I found some great accessories at WalMart for it.

Exactly = thats what I have - that manufactured house tacky wall board - you can either recover or replace - does yours have the little wood seam covers every four feet or were you lucky enough to get taped and textured??

The lovely wood seam covers here. I wish I had gotten regular plaster walls but this is a repo and we got a great deal on it so I could not be picky about the walls
. I love your idea about the white baskets and blue gingham. That sounds like the styles I like, I love country and french country.
Thanks so much for all the input, I am really loving your ideas. Keep 'em coming please.

My vote goes for french country.

Enjoy your new home Kathy! Did you have to move far from where you lived before?~*Darlene*~

I was thinking french country too Kathy. You could use the blue willow type accessories and infuse a little yellow and/or a bit of red here and there. I think it would look great! Have fun decorating.

They make the willoware designs available in a stencil , a stamp , and a rub on transfer - it might look cute on your cabinets like on the hutch in that picture I posted - it would totally change the look of your cabinets from modern to country.
