Your House, Your Furniture?
Okay, lame subject title, but I couldn't think of a creative way to title this!
I was looking around my house the other day and I realized that almost all of the furniture in my home was either given to us by relatives, purchased with many saved up gift certificates, or bought second-second-second-second hand. In my whole house, there are only four pieces of furniture that Rob and I actually purchased new, and even then, they were on sale.
So, what about your house? My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

All of our furniture except 3 pieces was bought brand new by us at some point in time. Some of our furniture is old now and could be replaced with new stuff

Got a mix of old and new stuff, if we see a good bargain in the thrift shop that's what we want, why pay more?

We also have a mixture of stuff. The good quality wood furniture was all given to us, a lot of our other furniture we got free as DH got a relocation allowance from his employer when we moved over here.
We've only had to buy a couple of bits and pieces to fill the gaps!

We have bought all of our furniture new except for DS#1's bed. It was given to us from my SIL. Also one of the dressers in my room, I bought at an antique store.
We bought out LR furniture about 5 years ago and it is ready to be replaced. With kids jumping on it, animals using it for their scratching post, etc. It has seen better days. I don't know if I will buy anything new this time as I thought that LR set was quite expensive. I am hoping to replace it this summer.~*Michelle*~

We have a mixture. Our couches and our bedroom set are new.... DD's bed, our kitchen table & chairs, some lamps, and a loveseat are all hand-me-downs. Some pieces are also left from DH's bachelor apartment- the end tables, two lamps, etc-- and those things have definitely seen better days, but, they're useable.

Most pieces were bought at auctions. A few were bought at second hand stores that carried antique items and the rest were bought new; mainly the couches and chairs (upholstered pieces). Plus when Mel and I combined homes we had more furniture than anyone could need and had to sell quite a lot. It's a hodge modge of everything.

Mixture here. Latest purchace was just the other day. Bought a full size matress in June for us. DD'd matress sprung a spring so we decided to give her ours. Seeing as Jack & I aren't getting any smaller and getting tired of unintentionally smacking each other in our sleep we thought we need a queen size set. Went and bought that & it was on sale! The full we bought in June was $100 more than the queen we just got. woohoo!

In our old house we had all used or given to us furniture but when we moved and paid off all our debt we got to get all new stuff. The only old stuff we have now is an old rocking chair, my curio cabinet and our master bedroom set. The kids got all new stuff and the rest of the house is all new stuff too.
