Exclamation What do you call it?

    Your house?

    or

    Your home?

I always called it my house until a few years ago when it felt comfortable and exactly as I wanted it. I then began calling it my home and have every since.

I *think* I refer to it both ways. Not really sure, but it feels like 'home'.

I used to call it "the new house" but after a short while it became "home".

I call mine "The Cave" (it's dark and few windows) or I will say 'my place'. I live in a condo. It isn't quite the way I want it, so not 'home' and well... it isn't a house either.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Depends on the context. Normally I would say 'the house' to refer to the building, ("we need new windows in the house", "I need to go back to the house, I forgot my purse"), and if I say 'home' I generally mean the area where I'm from. It's not really an indication of my comfort level in the house, that's just what I've always said. If I'm at my parent's house, I call that 'the house' and they've been there since 1970.

Home is more of a concept than a building. If we are out and I'm tired and my husband wants to stop somewhere and I say 'let's just go home', I don't mean I want to drive 2000 kms to my parent's house, I mean I want to go to the place where we currently reside. Could be our house, hotel room, tent, wherever I plan to sleep that night. I guess I only use the word home when I am expecting to receive some sort of comfort from a place.

I usually call it my "house" but I have heard myself telling others my "home" so I would say both but more so house.

We rent a mobile home and it is definately the "house", unless I've been away a few days, then I can't wait to get back home. We are saving for land and building our dream home. Hopefully in the next 2 years.

I call it "the house" when I'm working on it and frustrated but most of the time I call it "home". Although I actually have mine named as well. When you say the name it actually sounds like Mah-kah me ah-more ... or Maka my love.

My mother calls MY house a cave! It is funny, because the house is solid windows, so normally you need sunglasses just to walk into the livingroom.

Since we just moved in in July, its still the house. When we get it like we want it it will be home.

Staying home doing nothing is a lot more fun if you don't have to do it.

Home is where the heart is, an old saying that I have heard forever. I really think the biggest difference between a house and a home is that when you think of home it brings a sense of comfort, happiness, and security. When you finally become emotional attached to a "house" then it becomes your home.

    There is a poet named E Guest, and he said;
"It takes a heap o' livin' in a house to make it a home."

So it can be called home and NOT be a house at all. "A home may be a house,
but a house isn't always a home." I have no idea who said this, but I have heard it many times.

Funny how you never really think about these things until someone brings it up. Then it really makes you pay some attention to what you do call things.
