some fun for the decorating divas here

OK I love a couple of decorating shows. I was thinking it might be fun to share our favourites.

One is Whose Design is it anyways, and it pits a designer against a homeowner. They do the same room in the home owners house 2 ways. Then they take the design out and people vote as to who won.

Sometimes it's Jason, sometimes it's the homeowner but it's always light hearted and fun. Jason is a very good natured guy but he also has design lessons built into his show.

I finally followed the link to the show site after watching today's epi and I was impressed by the detail.

so if you like to see a room take 2 different directions and compare and learn from it, you might enjoy this link.

I've been poking thru his back episode list and it's fun just comparing, and seeing which design won the popularity contest. Jason has a tiny little design tip or lesson with each one.

This is useful if you are wondering about selling in the near future and want to appeal to a broad audience. Stay neutral but still exciting.

My other favourite TV decor show is Cityline TV out of Toronto with Marilyn Dennis. She has a whole stable full of good Canadian designers such as Brian Gluckstein and Kim Seldon.

Their site http://www.cityline.ca/ has more than decor advice, they have makeup, recipes etc. click on the home and garden section and you can tour homes, check into design techniques on video and a whole bunch of useful info.

I've been poking thru that site for 2 years and still have only scratched the surface. It's a ton of fun to browse. Kind of like being let loose in a really upscale furniture store to spend time just looking and being inspired.

Oh, I love that site~ I am in the process of trying to decorate my home and this gives me some great ideas.
