Your room looks great so far! I would paint the dresser and the mirror! Maybe even mosaic the mirror, but I would hang it on another wall! Good luck.

I like the idea is put a white runner on the dressor and mosiac the mirror but hand it on another wall.

Here are the before and after pictures of the entertainment area. I took all the advice and took down the mirror. Now it's in my music room and can help me when I'm practicing guitar.

I like it without the mirror, and I think it looks great as is but if your set on painting it white I would, maybe even put some stencils on it to make it a focal point.

I think I'll wait on painting it white. I would like the option of using it with the mirror later (as a dresser in the bedroom) if I decide to do that so if I paint one, I'll have to paint the other. I might decide later to paint it anyway.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Why not hang the mirror over the sofa?

The mirror is incredibly heavy. I would love to hang it somewhere, but it would involve too much. Also, we rent this house so I don't want to make any big holes in the wall. Good idea, though!

I think you've done a good job. I wouldn't paint the dresser either right now. The only thing you need now is a cluster of candles on the coffee table and a few throw pillows (maybe an 'antique' quilt design) on the sofa.

Thanks! It's still a work in progress. I have made a valance for the window, and I think I will make some matching pillows. I plan on making plain white sheers to go with the valance.

Just reading the thread. I love the cottagey/shabby chic look. Also makes it easier to decorate! Love the coffee table. Some nice flowered throw pillows and some candles are great ideas!

I have a similar style and have decorated using (from thrift stores) little wrought iron tray, a wood tray or basket of some sort and then filling it with various candles. Goodwill often sells them cheap, and I arrange different colors and kinds on a tray, makes a functional, ever evolving focal point. ANother option is get a big unfinished wooden tray ( like from a craft store for cheap) paint it white, (or something similar from a thrift store) and then put it on the TV entertainment area, that might break up the surface and then put plants, etc... on it. Like something out of Pottery Barn, keep us posted. It is fun jazzing things up now and then, isn't it!!

Love the dresser without the mirror! That is what I use for my tv stand. I have the dvd player, etc. in the drawers.
